Red Bank, NJ -- Photographers, nature lovers and those looking for a way to enjoy the great outdoors are invited to participate in the Red Bank Borough Education Foundation’s (RBBEF) First Annual Photo Contest.

Using the spectacular scenery along the Red Bank Primary School’s 17-acre property situated on the banks of the Swimming River, participants may submit photographs taken on location in any or all of the three subject areas, nature, architecture and wildlife.

The competition runs from September 30 to October 30, 2008 and is open to anyone aged nine or older. For every entry fee of $10.00, contestants may submit three photos for consideration; there is no limit to the amount of times a contestant may enter.

All photos must be taken on the Primary School grounds during the contest time period. Contestants may enter as many times as they like via the Foundation website www.rbbef.org/contest. Professional photographers from the area will act as volunteer judges, selecting one winner in each category. Winners will have their photograph printed on a special boxed set of note cards, available for the holiday 2008 season. One Grand Prize winner will also receive $100.00

Foundation Vice President and grants committee chair Marybeth Maida believes the contest is a fun way to introduce the RBBEF to the community at large and create interest in the Primary School’s ecologically unique and undiscovered property.
“Our organization’s main emphasis is the creation and maintenance of learning environments in which our students and community members may study and enjoy the natural world,” Maida said. “By promoting exploration and preservation of this landscape along the Swimming River, we can provide learning opportunities that extend beyond the classroom and into the natural environment to create and support an ecologically literate community.”

RBBEF is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting the District’s Goal of preserving and restoring the Primary School’s 17 acre wetland property through sustainable land use and “green” school practices.
